Memorial Day Weekend May 26-30, 2011

Yeah the beginning of summer…oh wait we live in Florida summer started months ago.

We along with lots of friends are making it a tradition of going to Flamingo Lake RV Resort for the major holidays.  It is close to home, if someone has to work they are still close enough to travel back and forth.  The kids can come visit for the day and go home.

We went out on Thursday night because Brent had to work on Friday, we would rather set up on Thursday then I have all day Friday to play..better then pulling in late Friday evening.

We had Mackenzie on Thursday night and Friday.

This is going to be a long post, it was a long weekend..right?

Well later in the afternoon thunder and lightening started…what a whirlwind few hours.  Mackenzie screamed..she was scared..the dogs barked and barked and paced up and down the rig.  The weather radio would not stop beeping…..Brent was still at work….of course everyone was inside.  I was trying to console Kenz…she finally fell asleep from sheer fear I think.

Not only was it thunder, lightening, and raining..it hailed too.  I managed to get some pictures.

Roads were flooded for a bit.

Lots of rigs were damaged, broken sky lights, vent covers.  Some electrical surges blew things out.  Thankfully our only damage was to our brittle awning.  It was still usable and we did use it the rest of the summer.  Changed it out right before Labor Day weekend.

Needless to say after the storm…the Café became very busy. 

If you go back in my blog to around July 2010 you will meet sock monkey..he likes to terrorize the campground.  Well he was having a good time after the storm.

The RV Resort always has bands on Holiday weekends..we were at the beach waiting for the band to start.  Grimm White Steed was the band.

We camped with the Pye’s. the Baker’s, the Fiacco’s, and the Quintycki’s….and plenty of others we have met there.

Always fun, but then we need a vacation from our vacation.

Mother’s Day weekend May 6-8, 2011

Mother’s Day weekend we went camping to what I call our local Campground.  Flamingo Lake RV Resort.  Good thing we stayed local…Saturday morning Brent got called to work. 

We had Mackenzie Friday afternoon..so we entertained her until her mother got off work.

She loves playing with bubbles.

Kona and Lilly wanted to come out and play too.

There were lots of squirrels…they would get pretty close too.

Even tho Brent had to go to work…we had a fun time, it was warm enough to get in the lake.  Since we were close to home my friend Shelley came out to float on the lake with me.

This trying to remember what we did months ago is hard.

Mike Roess Gold Head Branch State Park, April 15-16, 2011

This was a new to us State Park, we camped for a friends birthday.  The address is Keystone Heights, FL

It was a bit warm in April to camp there, it is definitely a winter time camp ground for us.

This was at the park…I guess you could say this is things you can do with spanish moss.

Daytona Bike Week 2011

We always stay at Bulow Plantation RV Resort in Flagler Beach.  It is a bit out of the way from everything, but is quiet.  Everywhere in the surrounding area raise their prices during event weeks….oh well you play you pay.

We camped March 10 thru the 13th.  Some friend met us there and we rode with them.

Camp Blanding January 14-17, 2011

We took Mackenzie with us camping, she stayed 1 night…she had a great time…Her and Papa played and played, sidewalk chalk, road bikes and went to the park.

We chose to stay at the newest campground at Camp Blanding, no water access, but huge sites..no trees.  Our friend Wendy and her friend Tony camped too, Maiya too.

We always enjoy Camp Blanding, near Starke Florida.

Opps I have did it again

Time sure flies, it has been 9 months since I have posted.  I read blogs daily..just never take the time to write my own or comment on other peoples blogs.

I am going to get my camera out and update my blog going back to January to the present.  We have slept in our RV 54 nights..not too bad for recreation rvers.

NYE Camping at Rodman Dam

We camped here December 31, 2010 thru January 2, 2011

It was a nice drive..looking forward to a fun weekend.

All set up, the hill behind us is the dirt removed from the barge canal.

We had 4 sites in a row.

We learned a new game while there…bocce ball, it was fun and can’t wait to play again.

The dogs enjoyed the canal for a bit.
